First time in Singapore? (or not?) And yet looking for some new things to do? Hope this article will help you! 🙂
- GO MUSEUM HOPPING
There are several museums around the city like Art Science Museum and National Gallery Singapore to be discovered. You’ll love the architecture, the exhibits, and of course the art. If you are lucky enough, you can catch some of the famous exhibitors in these places.
NATIONAL GALLERY SINGAPORE
Have your camera ready because this place will give you each corner a canvas for your Instagram. The architecture per se will make you feel that you are in a European country. Aside from that, you’ll learn more about Singapore. This is definitely a place for kids and kids at heart like me. And if you are lucky enough, you can catch a famous exhibitor. Luckily, by the time I was there, the Gallery was full of Yayoi Kusama’s art. From the entrance to the stairs that was filled with dots. (I have separate write up on that: A DOTTY AND INFINITY EXPERIENCE: YAYOI KUSAMA’S LIFE IS THE HEART OF A RAINBOW )
ART SCIENCE MUSEUM
This museum is part of Marina Bay Sands and this place is for de-stressing and for the kid inside you. When I say de-stressing, I mean it. There is room there called the Black Wave where there are bean sofas that let you relax while watching the waves. (I was there about 1hour just staring the waves and just few more minutes I might be caught sleeping.) There’s also a room for the kids where they can play. And also, my favorite part is the Future World installation for the infinity mirrors. Such a beauty! And again, if you are lucky enough, you get to see a famous exhibitor here. Mine was SERPENTIform: Art Jewelry Design by Bulgari. (I’ll be doing a separate blog on this. ☺️ )
2. GO ON A HIKE
Singapore is a big city and if you want to escape from it, there are some places that you can go nature tripping and can fuel your hike thirst. One is the McRitchie Reservoir and the other one is Pulao Ubin. (Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to go to Pulau Ubin but still, it is highly recommended by my SG friends.)
McRitchie Reservoir is Singapore’s oldest reservoir. It has several activities that can be done there such as kayaking, trail running, and hiking. If you will hike over to the Tree Top Walk, there’s no need for the guide because the way is clearly instructed. There are also amenities near the Tree Top Walk such as washrooms, food kiosks, and drinking fountain. Just beware of the monkeys! They might get your food! Lols.
3. HOP ON TOP
Singapore is a home of towering buildings. And there are few spots that you may see these overlooking views aside from those rooftop bars and restaurants. And it is FREE!
Go straight to the roofdeck and you’ll see the beauty of the city lights! Go at night, to see the buildings sparkle! And there are no people in this place when we got there. 😉 You are Welcome! Lols
NATIONAL GALLERY ROOFDECK
Go straight to the roof deck, and you will find a resto bar there, while on the other side, it is a free part where the most of the buildings are seen. The famous Singapore landmarks are also spotted such as the Marina Bay Sands, Esplanade Theater, and Singapore Flyer.
4. GO WALKING
Just by walking, there are a lot of spots that can be discovered. Go on a photowalk. ☺️
This is the place where I first tasted the famous Dollar Ice Cream. Yaaaas. Masarap talaga siya. It is creamier and goes well on wafer or bread. Plus this is the place where you can also buy cheap yet authentic watches. Head over to Bencoleen Street.
ARAB STREET AND HAJI LANE
These are my favorite streets! The vibrancy, the culture and of course the foods are rated 10. Lols. Yasss. These are the places for getting that perfect photo!
WALK AROUND MERLION PARK
I have to admit, when I found this place, I am sooooo lost and almost gave up from looking the famous Merlion! hahaha. Only to find out that it is on the other end. -_-
Walk Around Clarke Quay and see these spots. Clarke Quay is a place for night outs. Various bars and restaurants are in there for you to explore.
5. VISIT MEOMI CAT CAFE
If you are a cat lover, you must visit this cafe! They have 7 cats that you can play with. We just passed by on this cafe and never regretted it. The place is so clean and I love those furry cats! They do have also delicious foods. Don’t worry the cats will not get your food. Hahah. This place is near Bugis train station and Haji Lane bus station and near the Masjid Sultan.
